Finding the Perfect Christmas Tree

It's our family tradition every year to find our Christmas tree and cut it down. It's something that we've always done, and the boys love finding the perfect tree. Of course, they wanted one taller than our ceilings, but I think we found a good compromise.

We tried a new Christmas tree farm this year, and the boys loved riding on the hayride to go back to the trees!

here we go on our hunt!

Daddy started us off with the saw and made the first cuts

F was next to cut!

S took his turn!

B finished out the boys

Momma took a turn, and then Daddy finished it off

Our tree is in the house and the boys enjoyed putting their ornaments on it. Unfortunately, I've had multiple strands of lights go out at different times, so that part is still a work in progress ha.

Christmas, Part Two and

After we celebrated Christmas at our house, it was time to pack up and head to my parent's for our family Christmas.

Yaya and Pops and all their grandbabies! One more baby girl coming in February!

B has just started loving books. "boo boo" and climbs in your lap; it's so sweet.

the boys are such good helpers when it comes to opening gifts ha

they love their new monster trucks

He was so thrilled about his new game! I promise he said at least 5 times, "Look! I got Connect 4!"

All the big boys got big wheels!

and Merry Christmas from this wild and crazy crew!

Christmas, Part One

These first pictures aren't Christmas related, but oh well. We went to Shelby Farms the week before Christmas with our friend, Brooks, who is also our neighbor. It was so nice to be outside and have a change of scenery!

On Christmas Eve, we made cookies for Santa. The boys decided on chocolate chip cookies. We had so much fun measuring out our ingredients and mixing them up! Baker was on my back, so he was involved, too. And they ended up tasting pretty good!

I had to work for a few hours on Christmas Eve. I wasn't able to get my whole shift covered, but I only had to work 7-11. So we had plenty of time to have a late lunch with our family and head to our candlelight service at church. After that, I went to work, and Daddy and the boys headed back to my grandparent's house for Christmas with our extended family.

Christmas morning! The boys got a trampoline. I try to loosely follow the "something they  want, need, wear, read" idea for Christmas presents so I don't go overboard. It's helped guide my purchases, and I focus on scaling back each year. Stockings are for socks/undies/playdough/bowls. The older two boys each got legos and a new board game. All three boys got new rain boots, which they have already worn a lot! Books are always present, and B got a little push mower that he loves, plus some new outfits for next summer.

My Christmas gift! I am so excited about them and can't wait to find the perfect spot to hang them.

Last Christmas Celebration and NYE

He loves his toes!

Taking a little snooze in Mommy and Daddy's bed

I let the boys help me make chocolate chip cookies a few weeks ago. It went pretty well until I found them sticking the beaters (that they had already been licking) back in the dough so they could get some more!

Our final Christmas celebration at YaYa and Pops' house! Uncle Jacob and Aunt Brette were in Denver for Christmas, so we celebrated when they got back.

Sullivan was so excited! A new pop gun, headlamp, and new blue rainboots.

These boys were all ready for an adventure outside with their new adventure packs that YaYa and Pops got them. They have duct tape, flashlights, a whistle, compass, and everything you could think of for going on an adventure.

NYE. We roasted marshmallows in the fireplace and made s'mores. We watched a YouTube countdown at 8 and drank sparkling grape juice. The boys smelled it and instantly pronounced it "yucky", so I drank alone. We were all asleep by 10. It was perfect!

Playing with the MagnaTiles they got for Christmas. These are a lot of fun!

Christmas Season

He's getting so big and I.can't.handle.it.

We made gingerbread cookies to leave out for Santa. It was a new recipe, and they were so disgusting! The boys liked them, but I didn't, which was probably a good thing. It's all about the experience, anyways.

Christmas at Memaw and Pepaw's house with our whole family.

Santa came!

These boys were ready for Christmas morning!

Every year, our staff feeds the PICU families at LeBonheur whose kids are in our unit over Christmas. I thought this year would be perfect for Fisher to come with me and help. He was less than thrilled to be leaving the new stuff he got for Christmas, but he ended up having a good time. He helped himself to quite a few pieces of bread while he was serving families-ha.
