Fathers Day 2012

We celebrated Father's Day on Sunday. Fisher and I are both so thankful to have such as wonderful Daddy. As Fisher gets older, I realize more and more how blessed we are. I'm so thankful to have a husband who gives up his weekends to take care of Fisher so I can work-and enjoys it! He voluntarily gives baths and changes diapers. He doesn't like it if he doesn't get his Fishy time! :)

I've seen a quote that says something along the lines of "anyone can be a daddy, but it takes someone special to be a father." We've definately got a GREAT father!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! We love you!!

Fisher is 12 Months Old!

*Fisher weighs 20 pounds, 6.5 ounces, and is 29 3/4 inches long.

*He wears cloth diapers and 6-9/6-12 month outfits, depending on the brand.

*He is crawling! Fisher is in to EVERYTHING!! His favorite things to play with are the dog bowls, all cords and outlets, and picture frames that are lower to the ground. He also tries to play in the dog's water bowl. so gross. Fisher has two different ways of crawling-on carpet/soft surfaces, he'll crawl "correctly" (both knees); on harder surfaces, he does a "broken leg" crawl. He is pulling up on everything these days, cruising, and walking behind his walker.

* He's eating everything we eat.  A typical day in food for him consists of oatmeal and banana/avocado/yogurt for breakfast, avocado/yogurt (depending on whether he's had it already that day) and a grilled cheese (shared by Mommy) for lunch, and dinner is whatever we're eating. He likes to snack on organic puffs and veggie straws. He's getting better about drinking his water out of a sippy cup, but he still prefers to drink out of our glasses.

*He still loves to be outside. We go on wagon rides or I push him in the jogging stroller most days.

*He's sleeping in his bed every night. He still flips and flops all over the bed. He will stand up in the bed when he wants to get out. He's also gnawed on his crib rails.

* He is loving books right now, which makes this momma very happy! We read multiple books several times a day, and we always read a book before prayers and bedtime.

*Breastfeeding about every 3-4 hours (when he takes a bottle, it's usually 6-9 ounces). He's back to waking up 2-3 times a night, but still sleeping until around 9 most mornings.

*He's talking! He says "DaDa" and "MaMa". DaDa is still his main word. He hasn't said MaMa in forever. :( He will say "bath", "bye", "Uh Oh", something that sounds like "Duchess" (our dog), "dog", "duck", and "choo-choo". We've also been working on his signs, but he hasn't started repeating anything yet.

* He loves to clap and pay Patty Cake. He will lift up his arms if he wants to be picked up. He will give hi fives and wave goodbye or hello (sometimes on command, sometimes spontaneously).

*He loves to play in the floor with his toys. He loves anything with wheels; he likes to push his toys across the floor.

*He is giving "kisses" now. He gives great big open mouth slobbery kisses. He'll sometimes do it when you ask him to, but mostly it's just because he feels like it. :)

*He is very attached to his lovie. He drapes it over his face when he sleeps, chews on its head, and talks to it. He now wants to have it when he's not in his crib. We now have two more lovies-one stays at Yaya's and one is for the car. :)

*He is still very much into sucking his thumb. When he's tired he sucks his left thumb and rubs his face with his lovie in his right hand.

*Loves bath time and loves to kick and splash. He also loves taking a shower now, too. As the weatehr has gotten warmer, his love of water has translated into loving pool time, too.

* He has eight teeth! He has four on the bottom and four on the top. He's got a few more coming in, but they haven't broken through the skin yet-we've been waiting forever! I think he's getting some molars, because he's been wearing out his fingers chewing on them.
*He LOVES to push things around! He's got a toy train in his room that he will push everywhere. He also pushes his toy cars around his room, too. He loves to spin the wheels.

*Nicknames: Budders, Fish, Fisher-man, Fishy, Tooters, Bubs, Bubba (I have no idea where this came from. It just slips out sometimes!).

I can't believe that 12 months have passed by already! We are excited to continue to watch Fisher grow and change. We are so in love with this little boy!!

Fisher's First Birthday Party-Presents

Last birthday post, I promise! Fisher enjoyed opening his presents (read:playing with tissue paper) for a while, then he was content to play with his new truck while Mommy opened the rest of his presents. :)

tissue paper! yay!

"look in the bag, Fisher."

bath toys!

and there he goes with the truck

it's so fascinating

"Oh, here, Brantley, I'll share with you"

cousin Asher slept through most of the party, but he woke up in time for the end!
Fisher had a WONDERFUL birthday party, and I couldn't have done it without my family. My mom and dad let us use their house, and my sisters helped me decorate. My sweet husband ran errants on Saturday for me before the party. We are so blessed to have so many family members and friends that love Fisher and helped us celebrate him. Thank you!

Fisher's First Birthday Party-Cake Time!

I was very interested to see how Fisher would respond to his cake! He's never had anything with sugar before, so we had no idea if he would even like his cake.

why am I naked and why is everyone staring at me?

singing "Happy Birthday"

they're so loud!

mesmorized by the flame

starting to dig in!

a little taste

he actually shuddered after tasting it-ha!

trying it again

deciding to swipe his arms through the icing instead of eating it

"I'm done! Pick me up, Mom."

"hey Dad!"
