Product Endorsement, Round 2

Back for another product review and endorsement! One day, I WILL manage to get paid for this!! :) Or not, but it's still fun. You've probably all seen the commercials and ads for Sally Hason Salon Effects. No? Well, let me tell you about them!

These are nail polish strips. You don't paint them on, you stick them on. Very cool, huh? There are 24 different styles provided, and they last up to 10 days. They can be removed with nail polish remover.

Here's what they look like!

And now my take on these. I got the leopard print to put on my toes. First of all, I underestimated the difficulty I would have attempting to put these on due to the size of my preggo belly. Quite comical-hubs got a kick out of it. Needless to say, I will not be attempting this again until this child is out of my womb!

Second, I had some trouble getting all the backing off of the actual strip. There are multiple layers that have to be removed, and although directions are included, I didn't feel like they were clear enough (or maybe that's just me).  However, once I got past all of those issues, they were applied with relative ease, and I was very pleased with how they turned out. Granted, I can't look very closely at my feet, so I THINK they look ok!

Although they are a little pricey (I think around $9), you get 16 strips and all the supplies you need in the package. I only used 3-4 strips because I cut them in half. I also applied clear nail polish over them to help them last longer. So far I'm at almost a week and going strong!

All in all, I was very pleased with this product, and it's something I'll use again!

Oh, you can go here to check it out for yourself! :)

What a Week for Weather...

This week has been beyond unbelievable with all the weather we've been having! Tennessee was hit by lots of thunderstorms and flooding, but by far, Alabama and Mississippi received the brunt of it. Seeing the destruction caused by the tornado is unreal. I've heard reports that the tornado lasted for 300+ miles, possibly the longest tracked tornado in history. It devestated towns throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia, leaving many people without a home or a town to even go back to. Many people also lost their lives. I encourage you to keep these people in your prayers, and continue to pray that they remember that God still holds them in the palm of His hand, even when the rest of their world is falling apart!

Royal Wedding Recap

The wedding of the century is over! Did you wake up at 3 AM to get your wedding fix?? While I won't say that I would have woken up to watch it (although I would most definately TiVo it), I already happened to be at work, so I had a front row seat to the entire event. Although I missed the kiss, because I was driving home. grr.... I am not ashamed to admit that I am fascinated by the royal family, and have been looking forward to this wedding for a long time! I love all things wedding, so throw in royalty, and I am one happy girl. Let's get on with the highlights...
Yay! They're married! Loved loved loved her dress! I'm not normally a fan of sleeves, but Kate (Catherine??) most definately did it right. I love that her look is simple and elegant, just like a princess should be. And William didn't look too bad himself. :)

So I have to see the kiss in pictures, but it still looks like it went off beautifully. And they kissed twice, which goes against tradition. Personally, I think it's odd that they have to wait 2+ hours after getting married to kiss, but maybe that's why they're royalty and I'm not!

And how cute are her bridesmaids and pageboys?? Her sister was her maid of honor, and I thought it was odd that she wore white, too. But she looked great!

And the hats! I have never seen such outlandish head gear!! But it was so much fun to watch!

I guess they're being fashionable, but I just don't get it...

And it wouldn't be right not to show Prince Harry! There's just something about that red hair...:)

Loved her second gown! I can't wait to see more pictures of it!
And there you have it-your royal wedding recap. And if you missed watching the events unfold, I'm sure it will be shown over and over and over again. For years to come... :)

Let the gifting begin!

We got our first baby gift in the mail this past week!! It was very exciting! Getting presents makes it so much more real that we are having a baby, and he/she is coming sooner than we think!! The gift is from Nellie's mom (we're still working on a grandmother name for her). She sent us our Chicco Liteway stroller. I'm dying to take it out of the box and play with it, but I'm restraining myself until the room is more organized and I have a place to put things.
Yay! A present for baby!!
Here's a picture of what it looks like. The Chicco Liteway stroller in Noce. Pretty nice, huh?!

One dark and stormy night....

Last night was a night of extreme weather conditions! There was a tornado spotted in Shelby County, and lots of people lost power and suffered storm damage. While we had neither, thankfully, my parents weren't so lucky. Their house did not suffer any damage, which is a huge blessing! Their driveway and yard...not so much! Here are some pictures my mom put on facebook this morning...
Dad and some of the neighbors assessing the damage

View from the street. Their driveway is somewhere in there...

Tree across the driveway

My dad is a little under 6 foot, so you can see how big this tree was!

More tree roots

No getting out of this driveway! Both of my sisters had to drive across the field in order to get out and go to school and work this morning.

Their mailbox is in the right middle of this picture. You can see the red flag if you look really closely.

Another view of one of the trees blocking the driveway

This all fell in the yard.

Twisted and snapped by the wind!

More damage....
While it will be a huge pain to get all of this cleaned up, we are all so thankful that it was only trees and not people! God was watching out for my family last night!

Nellie's New Eyes

Nellie, who always rubs it in that he has perfect vision, finally had to get some corrective eyewear this year! :) I don't know if it has anything to do with turning the big 30 last year, or if his boasting has finally caught up with him! Regardless, I can now say that my vision is better than his, even though I had to pay a lot for mine!

I think he's kinda cute in his new specs...

His new Oakley glasses. Who knew they made anything other than sunglasses? Not me...

Elizabeth's Shower

My cousin Jason and his wife Holly are due with sweet Elizabeth Grace about 3 weeks before baby Nelson is set to arrive. She will be born into a wonderful family, and will have some great big brothers in Hunter and Noah! Last Sunday, we had a shower for Holly at church. Elizabeth is one blessed little girl already! She will be dressed to the nines in the cute outfits and bows that she was showered with! We can't wait to meet this sweet little girl!
This cake was as yummy as it was cute!

Holly with Jamie, Jodie, and me

Elizabeth's monagrammed blanket

Elizabeth's first tutu!!
Seeing all of the things that Elizabeth got at her shower made it so much more real that these babies are coming-and soon!! We can't wait to meet them!
